After graduating from High School in 1969 Professor Marelli enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in the academic year 1969-1970.

At “The Institute of Normal Human Anatomy”, Professor Marelli was a University Professor teaching in the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Milan, Italy, continuatively for two years. |

Professor Marelli was assigned to “out-patient” and “emergency room” duties at the Orthopedic Hospital, Gaetano Pini, Milan, with the disposition as “Health Director” and the privilege of “Assistant Doctor” for a period of two months. |

Professor Marelli, with the agreements between Hospital Gaetano Pini, Milan, Italy and Hospital Fatebenefratelli, Erba, Italy, was assigned as “Director of Health”. In this period, he was able to increase his knowledge both in the area of “road traumatology” and in his “operative skills”, taking Advantage of his close collaboration with the Chief General Surgeon. |

Professor Marelli was accepted at The School of Specialization in “Emergency Surgery and Emergency Room” at the “1 Surgical Clinic” at the University of Milan, Italy. |

Professor Marelli was assigned to “The Center of Oncologic Orthopedic Surgery”, where he progressively learned and sharpened the particular techniques of diagnosis and therapy in “neo-plastic muscular-scheletric” pathology. |

Professor Marelli receives his Degree in “Specialization in Emergency Surgery and Emergency Room”. Such courses of study revealed themselves extremely useful deepening his knowledge in General Surgery. Since 1985, Professor Marelli has been an Orthopedic Consultant at “The National Institute for the Study and Cure of Tumors” in Milan, Italy, according to the agreements stipulated between the two Institutes. |

From the opening of The Center San Pio X in Milan for the Diagnosis and Cure of Tumors (1989), Professor Marelli was the “Specialist Consultant” in their Oncologic-Radiation Therapy Department. |

Professor Marelli was a guest at the Orthopedic Clinic of Hamburg, Germany, where he had the possibility of deepening his knowledge in the area of prosthetic-surgery of Hip and Knee. Here, he acquired the most modern orientation in the diagnosis and therapy involved in “septic complications” in articular-prosthetic surgery. In particular, at the center in Hamburg, Germany, it was possible to develop and study the use of modular prosthesis to revision built with the help of state-of-the-art computerized techniques (of that period). |

Professor Marelli was a visiting Doctor at The University of Florida in Gainsville, Florida, USA, as an Associate in the Department of Orthopedics where he studied, and still today collaborates, in the constant technological progress regarding particular surgery and prosthetic-substitution of hip and knee. |

Until today, Professor Marelli has carried out over 11.000 surgical operations in Orthopedics and Traumatology. He is also the author of over 152 Scientific Publications in both national and international periodicals, many of which with relevant “impact-factor” and 3 Monografic Volumes. He has participated in over 2000 national and international conferences as President, speaker and chair.
